Beautiful, thank you - I’ll look forward to purchasing them when they go on sale. Your image of the forest captures the beauty, but also the uneasiness and sense of foreboding, I’ve felt when I’m in a forest.
Getting lost in the forest - here in Australia getting ‘lost in the bush’ - is a central trope of horror. ‘A Forest’ by The Cure https://youtu.be/RGT4V6JmINA?si=H_AjO0iT6mUFaZUY really conveys a sense of this - have always loved this track.
Thanks, LoS. I love it when my art goes to the USA or Australia. Makes me feel like a world artist, not just a European one. Thanks for your support - in all aspects!
I love that song. Have you heard the new Cure album? Overall, pretty strong, with incredible opening and closing tracks.
‘Songs of a Lost World’ is wonderful. I love that it addresses the issue of mortality - they’re no longer young goths, they’ve lost loved ones by this stage of their lives. ‘Endsong’ really evokes that.
Of course, I loved the cover art, (the sculpture ‘Bagatelle’ by Janez Pirnat). I’ve liked The Cure for as long as I can remember - I still have my copy of their compilation album from 1986 (so long ago!) the one with the striking image of the crusty mariner from the video for ‘Killing An Arab’. That one inspired me to go off and find out who Camus was! There were a lot of goths at my grammar school. I think that whole goth aesthetic and lore provided an escape from the brutal ugliness of the Troubles. So many of us hated it all and sought refuge in music, books, fashion and art. I’ve always loved gothic art and literature.
It’s been a real joy to see The Cure making new music - they, Morrissey and Marc Almond (who I’m going to see perform in Melbourne in April, health permitting) and others were part of the tapestry of our lives.

Launched today, 14 March. All those damn delays. I think they are worth it though.
